Magyar Cowboys in Hungary
Part 3 of the Danube River photos is all about the Magyar Cowboys in Hungary. Their ‘ranch’ is about 15 minute drive from the river, and they put on quite a show. Fancy riding, great horses, and 3 generations of cowboys in the show. The youngest stole the show!
Weather was extreme for their show with temperatures above 100 F.
A walk through the barn after the show demonstrated the horses were completely under voice command – going to their stalls, turning around and waiting for tack removal … they were like big dogs – scratching their ears was much appreciated.
Cowboys ride around the arena at full speed with a glass of juice – he who spill least wins a kiss from the prettiest girl. – None of them spilled more than a few drops.
Beautiful animals all
One guy (the father in the 3 generations) rode 10 white horse standing on the back two Lipizzans; the other 8 were ‘local’ horses.
They also do weird things with horses carried over from when they needed to hide in the tall grasses or sleep at night. – some said they were outlaws hiding from the law; others said they were warriors.
The seven year old youngest cowboy was …. great to watch! He and the grandfather rode donkeys
By himself …
