Great article on Pacific NW forests
Over the last 5 years, I have now hiked over 6,000 miles in the Northwest forests from the Redwoods to Olympic National Park – almost exclusively within 50 miles of the Cascades Mountains crest, and the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). These woods have become my sanctuary and cathedrals, yet every hike I see and learn something new.
A great article with a little whimsy hit my inbox this morning from Animals Around the Globe (website). The article: “What’s Hiding in Forests of the Pacific Northwest” (Link).
The Pacific Northwest stands as one of North America’s most mysterious and biologically diverse regions. Stretching from northern California through Oregon and Washington into British Columbia, these ancient forests harbor countless secrets within their verdant depths. Beneath towering evergreens and amid the constant moisture of the temperate rainforest lies a world both familiar and unknown. From elusive megafauna that may or may not exist to microscopic organisms shaping entire ecosystems, the forests of the Pacific Northwest continue to surprise even the most seasoned naturalists. This exploration ventures beyond the obvious, revealing what truly lurks in these primeval woodlands
The best part of this article is they cover trees, animals and fungi under the ground … all are magical ingredients that make these forests my home, and the place I love to go …
…. to lose my mind and find my soul.
