Urban hiking Pres Trail and Hendricks Park

Urban hiking Pre’s Trail to Hendricks Park passing through University of Oregon campus on a clear and cold December morning. With temperatures below freezing, runners and other walkers were few, but the birds plenty. Geese, ducks and gulls made their presence known, and the warmer water in Mill Race and ponds had ducks of several types, cormorants and blue herons. Passing Autzen Stadium on way back home, an osprey perched above a pond fishing – no good pic – odd for them to stay all winter.

Between the 2 parks, a great urban hike longer than 10 miles with over half on dirt / bark trails and a little hill up to top of Hendricks Park – without getting in a car, keeping carbon karma low!

Some geese did not want to get wet around the Willamette River.

This mallard duck looked so cold.

Along the Mill Race, summer toys looked very out of place
