Just Birds

ByMichael Goatbells February 20, 2026February 20, 2026

I went back along the Mill Race today to check on the Great Blue Heron nest building. The trees, creeks, and odd things all had herons. Maybe 20 during the 3 hours. Progress on the new nests was null – nothing. I did check the old ones again too – empty.

This one heron on this pipe which is 6 ft off the water was doing something I couldn’t understand – maybe trying to catch some heron’s eye?

One crow determined to be photo’d … not sure I got the best side though

The real treat though happened by accident. I was watching this flock of birds dance in the air and started to take picture when a Cooper’s Hawk showed up looking for lunch

All this from walking outside my front door and down the sidewalk to the park.
