Herons and kingfishers
Weather peeps said maybe rain early and then fog later but not cold … good weather for November 🙂 … but, I just couldn’t get in a car. So I headed for the bark dust trail (Pre’s Trail) along the Mill Race and Willamette River.
Walking along the water early in the morning landscapes are everywhere, yet these 2 were remarkable … regardless of the human artifacts.
For some reason that remains mysterious, great blue herons were out today – must have been at least 6 different ones … in weird places too.
How does their neck do that?
Going around near the highway, I heard this weird bird song and I couldn’t place it. (Sound like this). I saw what it was and ‘duh!’ and there were 2 together … I circled back later and both were in same tree.
For the route, I just went to Alton Baker Park and found the bark dust … walked until tired (11+ miles) and then went home for brunch – no car required.

So glad we got out for a couple of short walks before I left Eugene. Not up to that now and besides, horrible weather here on the coast. Love, mom
Awesome as usual!
we’re so lucky to have such great places walking distance from our houses 🙂
