After recent air inversion hikes on Mary’s Peak <\/a>and Spencer<\/a>, the air came back nearly normal today. Air was clear at valley floor and foggy above … the cold still in the lower spots, especially on the north side of hills. Temperatures were around 28 at Pisgah<\/a> West trailhead parking lot … and when I arrived before 7:00 there were already 4 other cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For short January days, there is just something about hiking with a 10 minute drive. Pisgah is also more of a scrub-oak meadow hike unlike the fir forests of Mary’s and Spencer – different vistas, plants and animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Route<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Started at the West Trailhead and just kept going until I got tired. Went to the top of Pisgah 3 times and each time a different trail. Actually went on a couple of trails not seen before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
