That was the view from Pisgah cross the valley to Spencer Butte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three of us – partner, her sister and I – considered a quick Spencer Butte<\/a> jaunt, but decided Pisgah<\/a> would be better – fewer people, more trail options and safer parking. We parked in north TH around 9:00 and headed up trail 3 until the ‘summit’ trail, then to the summit and back same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human traffic was light on the way up but on the down, people and dogs were everywhere. Contrastingly to Spencer Butte hikes, all the dogs were on leashes! Yahoo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The atmosphere was the photo star on this hike. To the west, wet fall weather front was clearly coming across the Pacific, and to the east smoke from Emigrant fire<\/a> was sliding down into the valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once back home, the smoke slid all the way down to the floor and we had a smokey afternoon – one of the worst this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
